Opens to reveal a clear mirror and powder well, which still has the original paper instructions for the Kigu Plus sifter.
A convertible Kigu, this can be used with loose or solid / pressed face powder or make up. If using a solid refill, you just slide it into the base but do check the sizes before buying as they do vary according to beauty brand. The sifter is rigid plastic and helps to keep loose powder in place. There isn't a dusting puff but it's often best to buy these new, for hygiene reasons, if you plan to use the compact.
