Genuinely stunning vintage 1960's gold lamé cocktail dress by John Bates for Jean Varon.

Taken from my small collection of Varon dresses and a real show stopper! Bates created several designs using this particular fabric and each one features that beautiful black velvet.

This really is something special and feels, and looks, rich and luxurious.

Features gold lamé and black brocade with the brightest of gold metallic fabric, and has the softest black velvet deep cuffs and deep v neckline.

Best fit: small approx UK8
Bust: 32"
Shoulders: 14 1/2"
Waist: 26"
Hips: up to 40"
Length: 42"
Sleeves: 23"

Label: Jean Varon Made in England 10

Condition: Excellent (has ever so slight wear to the velvet waistband) | Clean and ready to wear

Details: John Bates is the British fashion designer who established the label Jean Varon. Although highly regarded for his feminine designs, Bates is largely known for his modernist early and mid 1960's creations, placing him alongside contemporaries such as Courrèges and Quant.

He was also the design mastermind behind Mrs Peel's unique attire in The Avengers. John Bates' designs are now both highly wearable and collectable.

All vintage items have been pre-used, unless stated otherwise, and may have gentle signs of wear.
