History snippet: Sarah Coventry.
The brand Sarah Coventry was created on the back of a Newark, America based company founded in 1853 by Charles W. Stuart, which sold its items door to door. Nearly 100 years later, in 1949, his grandson, Bill Stuart became company president. Bill launched Caroline Emmons Inc. in February 1949, which saw jewellery being sold to consumers via party plan (similar to Tupperware parties). The following November, Bill launched Sarah Coventry Inc., taking the name from his granddaughter, which was also sold via party plan. It was Sarah Coventry that became the most popular, riding the wave of costume jewellery popularity and the need for housewives to supplement their incomes post war.

Despite selling approx 35,000 pieces each workday in the 1970s, the C. H. Stuart Company (C. W.'s son) declared bankruptcy in 1984 (this included Sarah Coventry Inc.). The jewellery brand had gained international sales / recognition and still remains highly collectible today.
