Victorian White Linen Chemise Monogrammed KP Victorian White Linen Chemise Monogrammed KP
Beautifully made antique Victorian white linen chemise with monogrammed red initials K. P. and China buttons.
With a lifespan of over 100 years, simplicity is key to the construction of this 19th Century garment. The fabric is a thick linen, which is in lovely clean condition and has natural slubs to the weave. Features a round neckline with square button down yoke that has hand stitched button holes and sweet white China buttons. The main body has gathers into the top section / yoke, with godet inserts under each arm and rectangular short sleeves edged in crochet lace. The seams are mainly machine sewn but hand stitching is evident in the central monogram, lace attachment and the button holes, as mentioned above.
Best fit: Large but see all measurements below.
The armhole circumference and sleeve width are key to a comfortable fit because this is rigid fabric.
From underarm to underarm, laid flat: 24"
Waist: up to 58"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 15 1/2"
Armhole circumference: approx 21" (following the seam that runs from the shoulder to lower godet).
Sleeve width / circumference: 14".
Sleeve length: shoulder to cuff 12", underarm to cuff 11".
Hips: up to 70"
Length: 36 1/2"
Measurements are in inches and are taken with the garment laid flat.
Condition: Very good. Clean and ready to wear.
All vintage items have been pre-used, unless stated otherwise, and may have gentle signs of wear.
