Incredibly sweet and rare! Late 1950's, early 1960's vintage powder compact featuring an illustration by Raymond Peynet for Mascot Compacts (A.S. Brown & Co).

Features a pictorial top lid of a young man presenting a girl with a large bouquet of flowers, on top of which sits a blue bird. The compact's main body is a gold tone metal and has an engine turned lower lid. Opens to reveal the mirror and powder well with its original paper label. As you will see, this was created to contain cream powder but you could buy a pressed powder refill if you prefer, both of which just push into the powder well. Powder refills can still be purchased to fit most compacts of this type.

Size: 3 inches across

Make: The patent number belongs to A.S. Brown who owned the Mascot brand.

Condition: Overall excellent but with a few areas of tarnishing / wear to the gold (see lower lid), the mirror has very faint speckles which do not affect clarity.

Details: Raymond Peynet was a French illustrator / artist who became famous for his illustrations of a young couple 'Les Amoureux', which received worldwide adoration. Four museums are dedicated to his work, two in France and two in Japan.

All vintage items have been pre-used, unless stated otherwise, and may have gentle signs of wear.
