I have a few of these and couldn't understand why they were made this way. During the War era (and post war) in Britain, clothing became streamlined due to rationing, and the lack of fabric and notions meant you had to be inventive. Some dresses, for example, had wider waists that pulled in with a tie belt. In the US, Claire McCardell created the Pop Over dress as a response to shortages - but at least they look easier to pop on! This means it is hard to get on if you're a 36" bust. I got around this by unpicking the side seam. Please bear this in mind if purchasing.

Best fit: SM approx UK 12/14
Bust: 36
Underarm to underarm: 19
Waist: 32
Shoulders: 16
Armholes: approx 18
Sleeves from shoulder to hem: 16 1/2
Hips: 42
Length: 41
Measurements in inches are taken with the garment laid flat.
Will it fit?: Use a tape measure to measure yourself or an item from your wardrobe and check against the above.

Label: no.
