Late 1960's Baroque Revival Statement Necklace Late 1960's Baroque Revival Statement Necklace

£34.00 £28.90

Baroque Revival. Vintage amethyst glass pendant necklace signed by Exquisite… and isn’t it just?

If you’re looking for a highly ornate 1960's / 70's statement necklace then look no further.

A stunning vintage gift that has a wow factor.

This necklace seems to be a bit of a rarity, following several searches I struggled to find anything like it by this English jewellery company.

Measures: Pendant inc the bale is 8 cm high x 4 cm wide. The chain is approx 50 cm.

Condition: Has slight age wear to the gilt and the stones are in good condition. I suspect the chain is not original to the pendant, the hang tag is stamped RA.

History snippet:

The Exquisite jewellery brand harks back to the year the First World War broke out in Europe, 1914. Augustus Power and Clarence Flint liked Walter Archibald Parker Watson’s jewellery company so much they bought the factory and his name. From there on in they grew the company from a mere six people based in the Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter to a workforce of hundreds and became the second largest manufacturer of costume jewellery in Britain. During this time they came up with the brand name Exquisite but they continued to trade under the W.A.P. Watson name and became a limited company. In the 1950’s they founded a subsidiary company called Exquisite Jewellery Ltd which sold directly to retailers. The exquisitejewellery.co.uk site has more info.

Exquisite only began to sign their jewellery in the mid 1950s. From then until the 1970s, when the company folded, many pieces were signed but some where not. Luckily for me this one has the signature and copyright symbol.

All vintage items have been pre-used, unless stated otherwise, and may have gentle signs of wear.
